Matthew David Karnas (David) grew up in Woodbridge, New Jersey and graduated from the University of Arizona in 1986. Subsequently, Mr. Karnas worked as a legislative assistant for Art Hamilton, the first African American elected to the Arizona State Legislature. David then received his Masters Degree in Environmental Science from the State University of New York at Syracuse and his law degree, with honors, from Syracuse University, College of Law in 1990. David has been engaged in the practice of law since 1991 when he was admitted to the Arizona State Bar. David has devoted the majority of his time to representing injured people through mass tort, class action, and personal injury litigation.

David has won large verdicts and settlements for his clients in both State and Federal Courts throughout the United States. In recognition of his achievements he has been recognized as one of the top 100 trial lawyers. David also volunteers his time representing public interest and community groups who are fighting to protect the environment.

Barry BellovinBarry Bellovin began practice in 1981 following graduation from Hastings College of the law and has been with the firm since 1983. He has been a shareholder in Bellovin & Karnas, P.C. since 1985 in Tucson, Arizona. His practice focuses extensively on plaintiff personal injury, medical malpractice, class action, product liability and toxic tort litigation. Mr. Bellovin has extensive experience and has represented thousands of clients for more than 25 years.

Since 1994, Mr. Bellovin has served as Judge Pro Tem for the Pima County Juvenile Court in Tucson. Mr. Bellovin has also served as a Pima County Special Court Commissioner and Special City Magistrate in Tucson. He has taught Business law at both Pima Community College and for the University of Phoenix in Tucson.

Mr. Bellovin has had several cases that have received positive national media attention. These cases have been profiled on television news with Diane Sawyer (Bravo) and in print in the Los Angeles Times (Sternberg). Other cases have been profiled in the local media.

Mr. Bellovin is a member of the State Bar of Arizona, California State Bar, New York State Bar, U.S. Supreme Court Bar, U.S. Court of Appeals (9th Circuit), U.S. District Court of Arizona, U.S. District Court of California (Northern, Eastern, Central and Southern Districts), U.S. District Court of New York (Southern and Eastern Districts), the Hastings College of Law Alumni Association and the AAJ. He is also active in community service serving as President or board member for numerous organizations, including, The Tucson Hebrew Academy and Pio Decimo Center.

In 1996, Mr. Bellovin received the Pima County Bar Association's Pro Bono Attorney Award. Mr. Bellovin has served as faculty for legal seminars; Trial psychology, TMJ for Lawyers, Internet Security Law and Chiropractic and the Law. He has also contributed Chapter 1 to a published book, Toxic Mold Litigation. Additionally, Mr. Bellovin was recently appointed by the Federal Government of Mexico to a Consular position and now serves as an official consulting attorney to the Mexican consulate in Tucson, AZ.


 

Virginia BlackmanV. Lizet Zazueta-Blackman was born in Cd. Obregon, Sonora, Mexico. She attended the University of the State of Sonora in Mexico where she received a Juris Doctorate in 1999.

Prior to law school and throughout her study Lizet worked for the Mexican government both in Mexico and in the United States. During this time she focused her legal practice on property law, municipality law and immigration law. For her many years of outstanding public service, Lizet received special recognition from the Governor of the state of Sonora in Mexico. Following law school, Lizet received a scholarship to research American Law in the United States. Currently, Lizet is licensed to practice law across the entire country of Mexico.

She joined Bellovin & Karnas P.C. in early 2006 to develop and strengthen the firm’s relationship with the Hispanic community and was quickly promoted to Director of Business Development. She also handles Immigration/Naturalization matters with the firm and supports the firm’s litigation department. She received special recognition from the firm for her significant accomplishments during her first year of employment.

Finally, Lizet works as a point of contact and liaison between BK and the government and citizens of Mexico. Because of her unique background, Lizet is available on a case-by-case basis for organizing depositions and other legal matters in the country of Mexico.

Michael SilvaDennis Bastron - Dennis Bastron is a native Tucsonan and a graduate of the University of Arizona Rogers College of Law.  As a law student, Dennis interned with Judge Harrington of the Pima County Superior Court.  Dennis also participated in the Volunteer Lawyer's Program Child Support and Guardianship Clinics.  For his participation in those clinics, Dennis was named Outstanding Lawstudent Volunteer for January 2008.

Dennis joined Bellovin & Karnas, P.C. as an associate attorney in January 2010 after serving as a law clerk for the firm in the summer of 2008.  Dennis is admitted to practice in all Arizona state courts as well as the United States District Court for the District of Arizona.  His practice areas include personal injury, wrongful death, and class actions.
